Global SABRE Award for TVN WBD and SEC Newgate CEE for defending free media in Poland

TVN Warner Bros. Discovery and SEC Newgate CEE were honored with an award in the global SABRE competition for their efforts to defend media freedom and independence in Poland. The “Saving Free Media in Poland” initiative was among the top 1% of the most important campaigns of 2025, selected from over 4,000 entries from around the world. It is the only project from Poland to be included in the prestigious group of global finalists for the SABRE award this year.

The actions taken by TVN Warner Bros. Discovery and the SEC Newgate CEE agency concern the defense of fundamental democratic values during a period of intensified attacks on independent media and journalists in Poland, as a result of which Poland fell 48 places in the Reporters Without Borders press freedom ranking between 2015 and 2023. The “Saving Free Media in Poland” initiative has gained international recognition for defending the values that are the foundation of democratic societies around the world: independent journalism and free media.

The universal significance of these values is demonstrated by the fact that no other Polish campaign has ever been recognized in three major international industry competitions (ICCO, PRWeek, and SABRE). The Global SABRE Award is yet another international award – the campaign has previously received two golds at the ICCO Global Awards in the Public Affairs and Crisis Management categories, a nomination for the PRWeek Global Awards, and the main SABRE award at the regional level – the SABRE EMEA Awards.

The Global SABRE Awards will be presented at a gala to be held on November 3 in Chicago. SABRE is one of the most prestigious awards in the world, presented by PRovoke Media. For years, it has been selecting the 40 best campaigns from among the six regional editions of the competition.
